A man was shot during a carjacking in Seattle’s Wedgwood neighborhood on Monday night.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a report of a robbery in the 2100 block of Northeast 85th Street. Officers arrived and found a 26-year-old man who had been shot in his left leg. Police rendered aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable, but serious, condition.
Investigators believe the victim was standing in front of his apartment complex when he was approached by a man wearing a dark colored hoodie and black face mask. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s personal property, including his car keys. The victim refused and a physical fight ensued. During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim in the leg.
Shortly after the shooting the suspect drove the victim’s Kia Optima away from the scene.
Robbery Unit Detectives will be leading the investigation.
