Detectives Investigating Shooting in the Chinatown-International District

Seattle police detectives are investigating after five people were shot this morning in the Chinatown-International District.

At 3:48 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of South Lane Street. No victims were located in the area when police arrived.

Four people with gunshot wounds (GSW) began arriving at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in private vehicles while officers were investigating. A fifth victim called 911 from the 2700 block of 4th Avenue South reporting another GSW from the incident. His injury was treated at the scene by SFD.  

In total, four men and one woman sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious condition. One man required emergency surgery. They are all believed to be associated with the shooting.

Multiple shell casings were recovered from inside and outside of a nearby hookah lounge. No arrests have been made at this time. The circumstances leading up the shooting remain under investigation. 

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit arrived at the scene and HMC and will take lead on this investigation.
