Monday evening at 5:41 p.m., officers responded to reports of a collision involving a car and pedestrian at the intersection of 14th Avenue South and South Henderson Street.
Police, along with Seattle Fire Department, arrived and located a 56-year-old woman with injuries sustained from being hit by a car. The victim was immediately transported to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts the woman was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Patrol officers cordoned off the area and closed the intersection during the investigation. The 24-year-old male driver of the involved vehicle, stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.
Officers determined that the driver made a left turn and struck the victim in the crosswalk. Police evaluated the driver at the scene and no signs of impairment were detected. No arrest has been made at this time.
