Seattle Police officers arrested more than a dozen people during a coordinated effort in the Chinatown-International District on Dec. 18. The Community Response Group (CRG), Downtown Activation Team Operation (DAT) and West Precinct Patrol Officers had a focused presence around 12thAvenue South and South Jackson Street as part of Mayor Bruce Harrell’s Downtown Activation Plan.
From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., CRG conducted a narcotics operation and arrested three suspects. Nearly 90 grams of narcotics, including 14.6 grams of methamphetamine and 73.3 grams of fentanyl, were recovered. A butterfly knife was also seized during the arrests. The suspects were booked in the King County Jail on investigation of narcotics charges.
Shortly after the CRG narcotics arrests, the DAT launched its operation with West Precinct officers, SPD bike officers, and the SPD Traffic Unit. Uniformed patrol officers provided high visibility support for a multitude of city agencies, including the Seattle Department of Transportation and Parks Department employees while they conducted critical work addressing a large scope of issues in the CID.
During the DAT operation, 11 additional arrests were made, for a total of 14 arrests. The suspects were booked into King County Jail and SCORE Jail, for a variety of offenses.
