Suspect #1 was near the back of the bus and suspect #2 was near the front of the bus. Suspect #1 discharged his firearm while suspect #2 only pointed his weapon. Based on the location of the spent casing and the bullet fragment from the spent round, it appears that suspect #1 fired his weapon into the ground. No property damage was located, and no injuries were reported.

#2025-13948/North Precinct/Second Watch:

At 1839 hours, North Dispatch broadcast a call reporting a male near N 128 St/Aurora Ave N was seen with a firearm on his dashboard. The male then put the firearm in his back waist band. The vehicle was described as pick-up truck with a U-Haul Sticker on the side. As CRG officers were arriving in the area, The Dispatch Supervisor contacted the officers to inform them that the call taker had a bad feeling about how the 911 call came in. It did not feel right to them. With this information, CRG supervisors decided to have plain clothes officers surveil the vehicle and the male in it to determine what was occurring. During the surveillance additional 911 calls came into the communications center. Officers did not see the behavior described in those calls, but did observe the subject in the vehicle make phone calls. After about 15 minutes the vehicle and subject drove out of the area. Officers followed the subject to the 300 block of S Jackson St, where he turned on his hazard lights and pulled half on the sidewalk and half in the lane of travel. Based on the low level of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, it was decided to conduct a HRVS at this location. Just before the stop was initiated another 911 call was made by the subject reporting a man with a gun at that location. The HRVS was successful, and the subject was taken into custody. No firearm was located, and officers were able to verify all of the 911 calls came from the subject’s cellphone. The subject appeared to be in some level of crisis. The subject was arrested for False Reporting and booked into KCJ with a Mental Health Court request.
