Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-old man seriously injured in a parking lot near a Rainier Valley hookah lounge on Saturday morning, Feb. 8.
At 6:20 a.m., a dispatcher received a report of the shooting in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers arrived on scene and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers performed life-saving efforts until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived. The victim was then transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Police later learned that a large fight had occurred in the outside patio area of the hookah lounge prior to the shooting. Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
No suspects are in custody.
