Seattle police robbery detectives and the SWAT team arrested a 34-year-old violent, convicted felon and recovered multiple firearms last night in North Seattle.
On Jan. 10, patrol officers responded to a burglary with shots fired in the 5100 block of 40th Avenue Northeast. The victim, an employee, observed a lock on the ground from a tool shed on their property.
He soon found the suspect actively burglarizing the shed and grabbed onto him until police arrived. The man was able to get free, and the victim followed him as he fled down a walking path. The victim gave his location to responding officers.
The suspect turned toward the victim and fired 3-4 rounds at him. The victim was not shot. He sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
The case was assigned to the Robbery Unit, and detectives were able to identify the suspect during a monthslong investigation. They located his home in the 6800 block of 62nd Avenue Northeast.
Detectives applied for a search warrant for his apartment and the SWAT team arrested him on Feb. 13.
SPD recovered three handguns, two rifles, and ammunition inside the residence. One of the firearms recovered by police was even found to be stolen during car prowl next to the suspect’s apartment.
The suspect is a convicted felon and is prohibited from having firearms. He has past convictions of Drive by Shooting, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm x2, Identity Theft 2nd Degree x2, Felony Harassment and Trafficking in Stolen Property.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for multiple felonies including Burglary, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Assault.
