Strengthening Public Safety Through Partnership and Action
Seattle’s safety is a shared responsibility, and I am grateful for the continued support and collaboration of the Mayor’s Office, and our City Councilmembers as we work to make our city safer for everyone. In response to recent incidents and ongoing concerns, the Seattle Police Department is implementing an Immediate Violent Crime Prevention & Enforcement Plan to enhance public safety in our city.
This plan includes:
✅ Increased Patrols & Visibility – Deploying additional uniformed officers, including (newly explored) Crime Abatement Teams (CAT-Teams), and utilizing directed patrol strategies during random hours to deter violent activity, especially in high-crime areas and transit corridors.
✅ Active Investigation & Apprehension of Violent Offenders – Expanding investigative efforts, prioritizing the arrest of repeat violent offenders, and strengthening community partnerships to solve crimes more effectively.
✅ Proactive Enforcement of Gun Crimes & Related Offenses – Enhancing intelligence-driven policing, targeting illegal firearms trafficking, and working closely with federal partners to remove dangerous weapons and narcotics networks from our streets.
Public safety is not just about enforcement—it’s about collaboration. The support of our city officials, and our community is vital in ensuring we create long-term, sustainable solutions. I appreciate our ongoing partnerships and look forward to working together to build a safer Seattle.
