Police Investigating Shooting in South Seattle

Seattle police officers are investigating a shooting in South Seattle this evening that left a 20-year-old man injured.

At 10:26 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire near 29th Avenue South and South Genesee Street. Officers arrived and located 31 shell casings, and bullet damage to three vehicles and two townhomes. They did not locate any victims with injuries at the scene.

While investigating, a 20-year-old man walked into Harborview Medical Center with from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was in serious but stable condition, with a non-life-threatening injury. Officers learned that he passed out after being shot and an acquaintance drove him to the hospital.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Police have not yet made any arrests. Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be assigned to this case.
