Police Arrest Two Following Overnight Shooting, 8-Hour Standoff

Seattle police officers arrested a man and a woman following an overnight shooting and 8-hour standoff in the Chinatown-International District.

On May 24, at about 11:50 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at a food delivery driver in the 400 block of 8th Avenue South. Although the gunfire damaged the victim’s vehicle, he was not injured.

The suspect fled into a nearby apartment in the 900 block of South Jackson Street. Officers found the suspect’s location and established a safety perimeter around the building.

SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team, Patrol, K9, SWAT team, and the Bellevue Police Department’s SWAT team all responded during the hourslong standoff. Officers applied for a search warrant and a judge approved it.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man for Investigation of Assault, and a 34-year-old woman for Forgery and Organized Retail Theft warrants. They also recovered two firearms believed to be used in the shooting.

Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to process the scene. Police booked the suspects into King County Jail.
