
Seattle police detectives are investigating a violent car prowl and shooting in South Seattle this morning.
At about 1:00 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man shot in the 2200 block of 1st Avenue South. Police located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face and head. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and provided medical treatment to the victim. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious, but stable condition.
Police determined that the victim interrupted a man breaking into his vehicle, and during the altercation, the suspect shot him in the face. The suspect and his accomplice, believed to be two men in their 20s-30s, fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived and were not located.
The circumstances leading up to the car prowl and shooting are under investigation. Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit arrived to process the scene and will take lead on this investigation.
