
Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Downtown Seattle last night.
On May 28, at about 10:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of gunfire near 1st Avenue and Union Street. Officers arrived and found three people with gunshot wounds. Police provided medical treatment to the injured parties until they were relieved by the Seattle Fire Department (SFD).
Officers determined that there was a disturbance near 1st Avenue and Union Street. During this altercation, the suspect shot two victims. A private citizen that is licensed to carry a firearm intervened and shot the suspect.
SFD transported both victims and the suspect to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious condition. Despite all life-saving efforts, doctors pronounced the suspect deceased at HMC.
The private citizen cooperated with police and officers transported him to Seattle Police Headquarters where detectives interviewed him.
Police cordoned off the area and detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units arrived to process the scene. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
