Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing in Downtown Seattle last night.
On May 28, at about 10:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to an assault near 5th Avenue and Pike Street. Simultaneously, the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived in the area and located a man with stab wounds in a nearby alleyway.
SFD provided the man medical aid and began transporting him. Despite all life-saving efforts, they pronounced him deceased at 5th and Pine Street.
Police determined that an altercation occurred between two men and one of the men stabbed the other. The injured man ran away and collapsed in the alley.
Officers recovered a knife at the scene. The man involved in the stabbing cooperated with police and detectives interviewed him at Seattle Police Headquarters.
Officers cordoned off the area and Homicide detectives arrived to process the scene. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing are under investigation.
