Seattle police detectives and SWAT officers arrested a 32-year-old man accused of threatening to kill police officers yesterday morning.
On June 5, at about 8:00 a.m., Investigative Support Unit (ISU) detectives found an online video of a suspect armed with a knife threatening, “I’m on my way to a police precinct to stab one in the throat…see if they stop me.”
Due to the credible threat, Seattle Police Headquarters, and all five police precinct lobbies closed while detectives searched for the man’s identity.
Detectives quickly found the man, who lives near SPD’s West Precinct. When the suspect saw police, he ran, jumped off a second-floor balcony, then ducked into a nearby building in the 400 block of Minor Avenue. He headed up to the sixth floor.
The suspect live-streamed his arrest and said he intended to break into one of the apartments and jump out the window.
Ultimately, the SWAT team arrested the man 3 ½ hours after detectives discovered the violent social media post. ISU detectives served a search warrant on the suspect’s residence, but the weapon was not located.
Police transported the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation, then booked him into King County Jail for Investigation of Harassment and Threats to Bomb or Injure.
