Seattle police officers are investigating a shooting of a 29-year-old man in Capitol Hill this morning.
At about 12:15 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting outside of a bar in the 1000 block of East Pike Street. Officers located a victim with a gunshot wound in the abdomen near Union Street and Boren Ave. They provided medical treatment until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and continued treatment.
SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Police determined that the victim was in a fight disturbance outside the bar with multiple people. At some point, the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim. Officers recovered a shell casing and additional evidence. The suspect fled the scene in a car, and police did not locate him.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
