Seattle police detectives are investigating the stabbing of a 38-year-old man and shooting of a 25-year-old woman in South Seattle this morning.
At 1:59 a.m., patrol officers heard gunfire and responded. A few blocks away officers found a woman driving her car in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Her two children, who were in the backseat, were not injured.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) responded, treated her, and transported her to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious, but stable condition. A family member picked the children up.
Police determined that the woman and her two children were parked in an apartment complex parking lot in the 8700 block of Rainier Avenue South when a male, wearing ballistic armor holding a gun, approached her vehicle. They got into an argument. The woman stabbed the man in the leg, and he shot her several times.
At 2:03 a.m. dispatchers received the 911 call reporting the parking lot shooting. Patrol officers responded to the apartment complex and were directed to inside where they found a man, bleeding, with critical injuries in second-floor hallway. Officers provided him medical aid and applied a torniquet. SFD transported him to HMC, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe the man is the person who was involved in the argument with the 25-year-old woman.
Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to the scene and to HMC for processing and interviews. Police recovered the gun as evidence and the car was taken to the Vehicle Processing Room.
The circumstances leading up to the incident are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
