Update: Seattle Police Arrested Man for Homicide in Bitter Lake

On July 7, Seattle police arrested a 55-year-old man in connection to a homicide that occurred June 15 in Bitter Lake neighborhood.

The suspect had been arrested for an unrelated Department of Corrections violation when an ongoing Seattle police investigation led them to arrest him for the homicide. 

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of 1st degree murder.

Detectives from Seattle Police Department Homicide Unit continue to lead the investigation.

Detectives Investigating Homicide in Bitter Lake

Seattle police detectives are investigating after officers found a 31-year-old woman dead inside of an apartment in the Bitter Lake neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

On June 15, at about 12:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a body inside of an apartment building in the 900 block of North 143rd Street. Police arrived and made entry into the residence and located the woman, showing obvious signs of trauma. 

The Seattle Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Officers cordoned off the area and detectives with Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units arrived and processed the scene. The King County Medical Examiner’s office took custody of the woman’s body and will determine the cause of death.

The circumstances leading up to the victim’s death are under investigation. Police made no arrests. If anyone has information, they are asked to call 911 or the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
