Detectives, SWAT Arrest Convicted Felon for Robbery, Assault, Multiple Weapons Charges

Seattle police robbery detectives and the SWAT team arrested a 32-year-old man for robbery, assault, and multiple weapons charges during an arrest operation in South Seattle this morning.

The investigation began on May 13, at about 3:00 a.m., when patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of Dakota Avenue South. The victim reported to police that while riding his motorcycle, the suspect approached him from a nearby recreational vehicle (RV) and demanded his bike at gunpoint.

The suspect fired his gun at the victim nearly striking his head. The victim sped away on his motorcycle and called 911.  While on the phone with 911, the victim saw the suspect leaving the area. Officers identified the suspect from previous police interactions. They did not locate him.

While investigating, the case detective conducted multiple hours of surveillance on the RV, believed to be his home.

On July 24, robbery detectives and SWAT officers served a search warrant on the RV.  When SWAT ordered the suspect out of the vehicle, he threw a gun into nearby foliage before being arrested.

A police K9 team conducted an evidence track and found the gun in nearby blackberry bushes. Detectives believe the suspect used this firearm in the May 13 shooting. It was reported stolen. Police also searched the RV and recovered three more guns and ammunition.

Officers transported the suspect to Seattle Police Headquarters where detectives interviewed him. Police booked him into the King County Jail for multiple crimes:

  • Robbery 1
  • Assault 1
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (x4)
  • Possession of a Stolen Firearm

The suspect, a previously convicted felon, is prohibited from having firearms.
