Two Men Arrested After Road Rage Shooting, Crash on State Route 509

Seattle police have arrested two 19-year-old men following a road rage incident that led to a shooting and a vehicle crash on southbound State Route 509 near South Cloverdale Street.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, told officers he was confronted by two men on Aug. 3 after pulling out of a parking lot in the 3400 block of Harbor Avenue Southwest. The victim told officers that one man punched him in the face, and the other pulled a handgun from a cross-body bag. The victim tried to drive away but was struck again. He also heard a gunshot, but he was not hit.

The victim followed the suspects and called 911. Shortly after making the 911 call the suspects’ vehicle crashed. Officers arrested the driver for investigation of assault and DUI. The passenger was arrested for assault. Seattle Fire Department, Washington State Patrol, Tukwila Police Department, and Renton Police Department assisted at the scene. 

Police found casings at the original scene, bullet holes in the victim’s vehicle, and a bag of bullets near the crash site. The firearm was not recovered.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit and Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are investigating.
