Police Arrest Robbery Suspects Following “Absolutely Vicious” Pioneer Square Attack

Seattle police officers arrested three robbery suspects following an “absolutely vicious” attack on a 42-year-old man in Pioneer Square last night.

On Aug. 6, at about 11:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to an assault in the 300 block of South Main Street. Officers located a victim bleeding from the head. The man was missing his shoes, phone, and wallet.

Police provided the victim medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived. SFD transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Officers found footage of the attack on a video surveillance camera. The reviewing officer described it as “absolutely vicious,” and said it was “one of the most brutal, unprovoked assaults” he has ever seen.

The male suspects can be seen punching the victim in the head and knocking him to the ground. Once on the ground, the man was repeatedly punched and kicked.

After the robbery and initial attack, one of the suspects returned to the scene and kicked the victim once more, drawing his leg back as if he were kicking a football or a soccer ball. A witness told police the victim lost consciousness from the attack.

Officers located the suspects near 6th Avenue and South Jackson Street and arrested them. The Real Time Crime Center cameras tracked the suspect’s movements Downtown and captured one of the arrests on video.

Police booked the 28-year-old man into the King County Jail (KCJ). 

The 24-year-old man grabbed at an officer’s gun while being detained. Police requested additional charges of Attempting to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer and Obstructing a Public Officer. Police booked him into KCJ.

The 17-year-old girl ran from police, before getting caught. Police booked her into juvenile detention at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children & Family Justice Center. They requested and additional charge of Obstructing a Public Officer.

Officers recovered the victim’s stolen items from one of the suspects and returned them to him at HMC.

Detectives in the Robbery Unit are assigned to this case.
