Police Seek Arsonist Responsible for Woman’s Death

The Seattle Police Department is asking for your help identifying the suspect who set a deadly house fire that killed a 72-year-old woman who lived in the 3800 block Sunnyside Avenue North.

Investigators determined the June 4 fire was deliberately set, taking the woman’s life and leaving family, friends, and neighbors grieving a loss that should never have happened.

The real suspect remains at large and may still pose a danger. As Chief Shon Barnes often reminds community members, solving crimes like this takes more than good police work — it requires the eyes and ears of our community

If you have any information that could help police and prosecutors bring this individual to justice, please contact SPD’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. You can remain anonymous.

By sharing what you know, you can help us protect your neighbors and honor the memory of the woman whose life was taken far too soon.

Earlier in the investigation, police arrested a potential suspect who appeared to match the description of a dark-haired man seen on camera footage. SPD detectives worked closely with prosecutors quickly to secure his release once new information emerged that showed the man was innocent.

We invite you to work with us to make sure that no other family suffers this kind of loss.
