Seattle police detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) continue to investigate the Aug. 16 shooting at Golden Gardens Park.
Police transported the suspect to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by GVRU. On Aug. 17, detectives later released the suspect pending further information.
At the time of the police report, the victim “was stable and receiving surgery for the injuries he sustained.”
This continues to be an open and active investigation assigned to GVRU.

Man Arrested Following Shooting at Golden Gardens Park, Gun Recovered
Seattle police officers arrested a 22-year-old man and recovered a handgun following a shooting at Golden Gardens Park in North Seattle this evening.
At about 8:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting at 8498 Seaview Place Northwest. There, police found a 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and torso. Officers provided medical aid to the victim with the help of a bystander, a trauma doctor. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and took over medical care.
SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect left the area in a black Mercedes before police arrived. Officers found the car at 28th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Market Street. Police performed a high-risk, felony traffic stop and detained three individuals. Officers identified and arrested the shooter and recovered a handgun.
Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) responded to the scene. Police transported the suspect to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by GVRU detectives. He is expected to be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
