At 1531 hours, dispatch notified units at the W PCT regarding a demonstration in Westlake Park at 400 Pine St. The protest was a pro-Palestine protest of well over 200 protestors with a car and bike brigade for support. The first arriving officers on scene attempted to contact the protest leader; however, were immediately swarmed by the bike brigade. Officers were able to leave the area, re-group and establish a position to observe the protest. West units were eventually able to contact the “police liaison” in the group and worked to mitigate any potential issues. Patrol resources were committed to the protest to manage traffic control at major intersections following the decisions by the protestors to march towards the federal building on 2nd Ave. The protest arrived at 1201 2nd Ave where the protest group blocked the entire 1200 block of 2nd Ave. After nearly 2hrs, the protest group completed their protest and vacated the area.
