On Monday, August 18, at 6:16 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 2800 block of Thorndyke Avenue West.
Upon arrival, officers located a 70-year-old male driver with critical injuries and a 25-year-old female driver with minor injuries. Seattle Fire Department medics provided aid to both individuals. Despite lifesaving efforts, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Medics treated and released the female at the scene.
Officers learned the male driver was traveling southbound in a red Toyota when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a gray Jeep driven by the female.
A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the female driver and found no signs of impairment.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded and processed the scene. The investigation remains open and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact TCIS at 206-684-8923.
