Seattle police officers arrested a 41-year-old woman for slashing another woman with a knife at an encampment in Lake City Way.
On Aug. 17 at about 6:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 11700 block of Lake City Way Northeast. There, officers found a 29-year-old woman “bleeding from her left hand with an apparent laceration,” according to the police report.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and treated the victim for a non-life-threatening injury. SFD transported her to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for treatment.
Police quickly found the suspect and arrested her for assault. According to the police report, she had “trace amounts of blood on her right palm and one of her shins.” Officers recovered two knives from the suspect as evidence of a crime.
Police determined that the assault happened at a nearby encampment along the Thornton Creek Trail greenspace. The circumstances leading up the assault are under investigation.
Officers attempted to book the suspect into King County Jail (KCJ), yet they declined her pending medical evaluation at HMC. When discharged, officers booked her into jail.
Detectives in the Homicide and Assault Unit are assigned to this case.
