Police Investigating Stabbing, Car Crash in North Seattle

Seattle police officers are investigating the stabbing of a 21-year-old man and a vehicle collision into a parked car in North Seattle this morning.

At about 2:55 a.m., patrol officers responded to a stabbing in the 9700 block of Ashworth Avenue North. There, police found the injured victim and his vehicle crashed into a driveway. According to the police report, he “had a knife puncture wound on the right side of his neck with blood running down his chest.”

An EMT trained officer provided medical care to the victim. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and continued treatment. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious, but stable condition.

The victim reported to police that just north of this scene, either a man or woman told him he had a flat tire, then stabbed him in the neck, and tried to steal his car. A witness reported seeing the victim, nude, outside of his car following the crash, putting his clothes back on. And they saw a nude woman putting her clothing back on north of this location, leaving the area before police arrived.

The circumstances leading up to the assault are under investigation.

Officers set up a security perimeter to search for the suspect(s) with a police K9 team. While searching, Additional police resources found a man and woman nearby and detained them for investigation. Shortly thereafter, officers released them from the scene, unable to establish probable cause for their arrest.

The victim’s vehicle also crashed into a covered vehicle tent and a sports car parked in a residential driveway. While investigating, police found blood inside the victim’s sedan. Officers towed his car from the scene.
