Armed Man Arrested for 7-Eleven Robbery After “Brief Scuffle” With Cops

Seattle police officers arrested a 22-year-old man, armed with a gun, for taking part in a convenience store robbery with another woman in Downtown Seattle this morning.

At about 1:10 a.m., patrol officers responded to a robbery in the 800 block of 3rd Avenue. The suspects entered the store and stole beer and ice cream. While leaving, the woman hit an employee with a dog leash several times in an attempt to stop him from retaining the stolen merchandise. The suspects briefly left the store and returned. The woman then chased the employee around with the dog leash and damaged the store.

Before police arrived, the suspects left the area with a large white dog running with them.

An analyst in the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), utilizing the community space cameras, found the suspects nearby. The analyst got pictures of the suspects, provided them to officers, and advised them of the suspects’ direction of travel.

Police found the suspects in the 600 block of South King Street. When detaining the man, the woman fled from officers and got away. According to the police report, they arrested him after a “brief scuffle,” and recovered a gun, and a can of beer. The RTCC kept watch on the officers until backup arrived.

Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for Robbery, Unlawful Carry of a Pistol, and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

Detectives in the Robbery Unit will be assigned to this case.
