Police Investigating Shooting in North Seattle

Seattle police officers are investigating a shooting in North Seattle this morning that injured a 41-year-old man.

At about 1:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man shot near North 86th Street and Fremont Avenue North. There, officers found the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the back. Officers treated him until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and continued medical care.

SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. His injuries are non-life-threatening.

Police determined that the victim, while asleep in his van, heard multiple men demanding he open the doors to his vehicle. Shortly thereafter, his vehicle windows shattered, and he realized he got shot. He escaped to safety in his van, driving a few blocks away and awaited first responders.

The suspects fled the area before the cops arrived. Officers processed the shooting scene and recovered evidence.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. No suspects are in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are accepted.

Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are assigned to this case.
