Detectives Investigating Homicide in North Seattle

Seattle police detectives are investigating the homicide of a 4-year-old child in North Seattle this afternoon.

At about 4:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a possible suicidal person in an apartment building the 6600 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast. 

Officers arrived and found a woman in behavioral health crisis. Police entered into the residence to check on the welfare of the other residents. 

Police found an unresponsive child inside the apartment and began emergency life-saving measures. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and continued life-saving care. 

Despite all life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and SFD pronounced him deceased at the scene. 

Police arrested the suspect, a 45-year-old woman, without incident. Officers transported her to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. She is expected to be booked into King County Jail.

Police cordoned off the area and detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units arrived to process the scene. 

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the deceased. They will determine the cause and the manner of death.

The circumstances leading up to the incident are under investigation by detectives in the Homicide Unit.
