Detectives Seek Assistance with Fatal Shooting Investigation

Seattle police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance with the fatal shooting of Zachary Raymond-Becker, in South Seattle on the afternoon of Oct. 20.

Officers found Raymond-Becker, 37, with a gunshot wound to the head. Raymond-Becker died at the scene. 

The shooting occurred to the southwest of Golf Drive South and South Charles Street along the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trail near Dr. Jose Rizal Park. This area is close to the interchange of Interstate-90 and Interstate-5 in South Seattle. (See map below.)

Police found Mr. Raymond-Becker near a small fire that had been set along the edge of the trail. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.

The fatal shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. For reference of the time of the shooting, the Mariners were playing game seven of the Championship Series, and the Seahawks were about to play the Houston Texans in Seattle.

Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting in South Seattle

Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in South Seattle this afternoon.

At about 4:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting near Golf Drive South and South Charles Street. There, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and treated the victim. Despite all life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries, and SFD pronounced him deceased.

Officers cordoned off the area until detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to process the scene. 

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
