Seattle Police Seeking Public Assistance Rescuing Stolen Dog
October 30, 2025 2:30 pm
A 17-time convicted felon is behind bars, charged with stealing a beloved family pet, and the Seattle Police Department needs help finding, “Buddy,” and returning him to his owners.
Buddy, an almost three-year-old “Micro Bully Dog,” managed to escape from his family’s yard over the summer. A neighbor reported seeing Buddy make a run for it down the street and nabbed him. Another neighbor named, “Jose” said he would return Buddy to his family.
“Jose” denied ever having the dog. Video evidence from Jose’s home, which is a transitional housing facility, showed that the dog had been inside the home. Another video showed what appeared to be a dog covered in a blanket being taken to a vehicle. Jose Antonio Haughton, was arrested on July 28 for an unrelated crime and was charged by the King County Prosecutor’s Office with theft on Aug. 21.
“The owner is heartbroken. We don’t know where he left the dog, if he sold it, gave it to someone, we just want to bring this owner’s dog home,” said Michelle Barker, the lead investigator on the case.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Buddy are asked to turn him into their nearest police station or call 911 immediately.
