Seattle police detectives arrested and booked a 34-year-old man and convicted felon into jail after he shot another man in South Seattle this morning.
Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) and patrol officers processed the shooting scene. After apprehending the suspect and recovering his firearm, officers transported him to Seattle Police Headquarters to be interviewed by GVRU.
Detectives determined that one of the 911 calls regarding the shooting came from the suspect, who remained on scene until officers arrived. GVRU found that the incident began as a disturbance on a Metro coach between the victim and suspect. The bus driver ejected both men from the bus near the 800 block of Rainier Avenue South.
There, the disturbance escalated, resulting in the shooting. Police and firefighters treated the victim. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. As of 4:00 p.m., his condition was stable.
Detectives booked the suspect into the King County Jail for Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The suspect, a convicted felon, is prohibited from having guns.
