Man Arrested for Homicide After SWAT Standoff in North Seattle

The Seattle police SWAT team arrested a 51-year-old man for homicide after a lengthy standoff in North Seattle this afternoon.

At 11:45 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of threats with a knife in the 1100 block of North 84th Street. There, police found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries inside of a house.

Police and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) provided medical aid to the victim. Despite all life-saving efforts, SFD pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The suspect barricaded himself inside of the residence. Police Negotiators arrived and attempted to get him to surrender, yet he refused.

SPD’s SWAT team arrived and assumed tactical command of the scene. After nearly five hours of negotiation, the suspect exited the residence and SWAT arrested him after using less-lethal tools.

Police cordoned off the area, and the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units processed the scene. The King County Medical Examiner will take custody of the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.

The suspect is expected to be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Murder.

This is an open and active investigation assigned to the Homicide Unit.
