#2025-333653/East Precinct/Second Watch/E1:
At 1600 hours, about 80-100 people arrived at the former Starbucks Reserve Roaster, 1124 Pike Street, for a planned protest against Starbucks. At about 1600 hours, a male called 911 to report protestors pulling a dumpster out to the street and lighting it on fire. Lt. responded and determined no fire existed and the demonstration was otherwise peaceful, and no further police or fire department actions were necessary. Lt. met with one of the organizers who confirmed they intended to have a peaceful event with no planned march. SFD and Lt. cleared the scene just as Mayor-elect Wilson arrived to address the crowd. No other significant incidents were reported. PIO notified.
#2025-322848/West Precinct/Second Watch/K1:
At 1747 hours, an Officer of the West Precinct conducted a follow-up investigation involving a crisis-suspect who had previously used a rifle to threaten residents at his apartment complex. After learning the suspect was soon to be released from jail, the apartment site director notified SPD out of concern for his escalating behavior and imminent return. The Officer acted quickly and professionally and gathered the necessary information, secured a search warrant, and safely recovered a rifle from the suspect’s unit without incident. His timely actions prevented the suspect’s access to a firearm and significantly reduced the risk of a potentially dangerous encounter for the community, officers, and the suspect himself.
#2025-333449/North Precinct/Second Watch/N2:
At 1100 hours, GIU Detectives and North Patrol Officers conducted a joint Organized Retail Theft Operation at Ulta in the North Precinct. Detectives teamed with loss prevention representatives to identify and apprehend suspects. Multiple suspects were arrested for shoplifting. $4,042 in stolen merchandise was recovered. One of the arrests had a Felony DOC Warrant for Assault 3. This was a team effort and could not have taken place without the hard work by GIU detectives, patrol, and partnership with the loss prevention employees at Ulta.
#2025-333739/South Precinct/Third Watch/S2:
At 1607 hours, SW PCT officers were dispatched to an auto recovery located at 38 Ave SW/SW Kenyon St. Officers received an update that the complainant relocated to his home address in the South PCT. SW PCT officers responded to the complainant’s home address. The complainant reported that his vehicle was stolen out of his driveway earlier while he was sleep (see case# 25-333216). When the complainant woke up, he went looking for his vehicle. The complainant saw his vehicle at 45 Ave S/S Holden St. The complainant saw that his vehicle was occupied. The complainant told the suspect that he was inside his vehicle. The suspect was wearing a ski mask, pointed a gun at the complainant, and sped away. Later in the night, the complainant’s vehicle was recovered at the 4500 BLK of S Henderson St. The suspect wasn’t located. The SPD Robbery Unit was notified about the incident.
