Police arrested a man after a shooting early Sunday morning near the Chinatown–International District neighborhood.
At about 6:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a woman shot in the 500 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers arrived and located a 26-year-old woman suffering from an apparent small-caliber gunshot wound to her upper right thigh. Officers provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department arrived and transported her to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
During the investigation, the victim told officers she went to the suspect’s apartment to take a shower. She said the suspect shot her after she took longer than expected. The victim was unsure whether the suspect used a pellet gun or a firearm.
As officers continued their investigation, the 47-year-old male suspect exited the apartment, and officers arrested him without incident. Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment and recovered a BB gun rifle, a pellet gun rifle, and a small-caliber handgun.
The Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to the scene and is leading the investigation.
Officers transported the suspect to Harborview Medical Center, where he was placed under hospital guard. He will be booked into King County Jail following medical evaluation.
