At 2029 hours, security guard for an apartment complex called 911 to report a woman in crisis armed with a pistol at Broadway/John at about 2030 hours. The guard updated that the woman had pointed the firearm at her head, made statements that she wanted to harm herself, and pointed the firearm at the guard before walking SB on Broadway toward Pike/Pine. Officers arrived and located the woman in the 1500 block of Broadway holding the item. They used team tactics and verbal deescalation to gain compliance before safely detaining her in this busy area. The woman is a known/often contacted crisis subject in East, and the item was a silver lighter made to replicate a handgun with a 4 inch barrel. She was arrested for felony harassment after making statements that she knew the item looked like a firearm.
