At 1015 hours officers were dispatched to HMC to address a patient that was destroying trauma room in the ER. The suspect assaulted multiple members of HMC staff and at one point used an oxygen line to start a fire in the room. Officers assisted HMC security in restraining the suspect. The fire was put out quickly. The suspect caused >$100K in damage to medical equipment. The suspect was booked into KCJ for Investigation of Assault, Arson, and Malicious Mischief.
#2026-44294/East Precinct/Third Watch/E2:
At 2324 hours, before midnight, security for a bar called 911 reporting a man threatening to kill and stab people at a bar near 10/Pike. Officers responded, and got a description of the suspect from security, and verified that they believed he would return soon, possibly with a weapon. As officers stepped outside, the suspect was walking toward them and the bar. Officers attempted to place him under arrest, and he started fighting and reaching into his waistband. A “Help the Officer” was broadcast, and additional units arrived to take the suspect into custody. Officers had minor injuries to their hands. Reportable force used. 243 notified/on scene.
