At 0648 hours, officers responded to a Suspicious Package call at the SFD station located at 1300 E Pine St. An unknown suspect threw empty cans of bear mace into the back parking lot, then left a small package of letters on the front doorstep to the station. SFD Hazmat responded and detected trace amounts of explosives on the paper. SFD decontaminated the scene. There was no video surveillance that captured the incident. After being cleared by SFD, the package was entered into evidence for possible suspect fingerprints. ABS Sgt, FBI, A/LT notified.
#2026-44662/South Precinct/Second Watch/O1:
At 1207 hours, a witness reported gunshots at S Massachusetts St/Airport Wy S. Patrol Officers quickly arrived, detaining several individuals involved. The investigation revealed the suspect drove to the location to confront others over stolen property. During the confrontation, a fight broke out, and the suspect fired a gun at the victim, though no one was hit. Afterward, the suspect fled to the victim’s vehicle, stashed the gun inside, and tried to leave, but was quickly detained. Officers recovered the firearm after obtaining consent to search from the owner of the vehicle. A records check revealed the suspect was a convicted felon. The suspect was arrested for VUFA and Drive-by-Shooting, and GVRU was notified.
