Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man deceased Friday night in Capitol Hill neighborhood.
At 10:20 p.m., dispatch received reports of a shooting around East Pine Street and Belmont Avenue. Police arrived and located an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and neck area. Officers provided aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 42-year-old man remained on scene and was taken into custody by police.
Witnesses said the two men were involved in an altercation shortly before the shooting.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit will be working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
Police transported and booked the suspect into King County Jail.
