#2026-80792/North Precinct/Second Watch/U3:

At 1100 hours, The General Investigations Unit in conjunction with North Precinct Patrol Operations conducted an Organized Retail Theft operation at University Village to address the increase in criminal activity. The operation focused on several retail stores that have been impacted by the increased criminal activity and have suffered thousands of dollars’ worth of losses. Several arrests were made and the recovered property was returned to the stores.

#2026-81533/North Precinct/First Watch/L1:

At 1024 hours, this morning a parks department employee was cleaning trash in a wooded area along a small creek. The employee came upon a tent and belongings within the park area. The inhabitant of the tent pulled what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun from his pants and held it at his side. The parks employee was frightened by the suspect’s actions, left the immediate area and called 911. Several officers responded to the scene, set up a contact team and started dialog with the suspect from a distance. The suspect was not fully cooperative and scurried up a steep and muddy hillside to escape. Other officers moved to the area the suspect would likely appear. It was unknown if he was still armed. The suspect was re-acquired, refused commands and a Taser was deployed. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into KCJ with a request for mental health court.

#2026-81747/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch/F3:

At 1417 hours, victim reported he accidentally cut off a vehicle when he merged into a lane of traffic. The driver and/or passenger in the suspect vehicle fired two rounds at the victim. One round hit the head rest and stopped. The other round nearly missed the victim’s head as well. No suspect information was available other than a black sedan. Two rounds were located inside the victim vehicle.
