Party’s Over: Man Arrested for Burglary, Cops Recover $400 in Stolen Liquor

Seattle police officers arrested a 37-year-old man after he broke into a South Seattle business this morning and made off with $400 of alcohol.

At about 4:15 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a burglary in the 5200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers found a damaged front door, a broken window, and a metal pry bar on the ground. The suspect already fled the scene.

Police searching the area found a man a few blocks away carrying a large duffel bag. Officers quickly detained him without incident. He denied breaking into the business.

After investigators reviewed the video surveillance footage provided by the business owner, they placed the man under arrest. The footage depicted him breaking into the building.

According to the police report, the owner “estimated the total loss to be approximately $400. There was also significant damage to the front entry and window estimated to cost $2,000 in repairs.”

Police booked the suspect, a convicted felon for attempted burglary, into the King County Jail for commercial burglary. Party’s over, pal.
