Seattle police detectives are investigating a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the Chinatown-International District that left a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man seriously injured.
At 4:10 p.m., dispatchers received reports of gunfire in the 600 block of South Jackson Street. Officers arrived and found both victims with gunshot wounds. The 16-year-old was shot in the torso, and arm and 19-year-old suffered wounds to the hand and ankle.
Officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and transported both victims to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Police learned the victims were walking eastbound on the sidewalk when a sedan pulled alongside them. An altercation occurred, and someone in the vehicle fired shots before the car sped eastbound on South Jackson Street.
Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives are investigating and working to determine what led to the shooting.
