Seattle police are investigating two connected incidents on Wednesday night, April 29, near the Rainier Beach Neighborhood.
At 10:05 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a person struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue South. Officers arrived and found a 50-year-old man unconscious and non-responsive near the gas pump area after a vehicle hit him. Officers provided aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center (HMC). His condition is unknown.
At 10:15 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a stabbing. The caller, the man’s roommate said a man had been stabbed and he was driving him to the fire station in the 9600 block of Renton Avenue South. Officers arrived and found a 56-year-old man with a slash wound to the neck. AMR transported the man to HMC in stable condition.
Police determined the incidents were connected. The driver was sitting in a parked car in the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue South when a man approached and stabbed him, then walked away. The driver initially thought he had been slapped, then realized he had been cut. The injured driver then drove through the lot and struck the 50-year-old man before going home, where his roommate called 911.
Detectives with the Homicide and Assault Unit are leading the investigation. They are working to determine what led to the assault. The investigation remains ongoing.
After medical treatment the 56-year-old man will be booked into King County Jail.
