Police Investigating Shooting in South Seattle

Seattle police officers are investigating a shooting following an altercation in the Beacon Hill neighborhood this morning.

At about 10:54 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of man brandishing a weapon and suspected gunfire near 35th Avenue South and South Findlay Street. Responding officers investigated, but all parties left the area.

About an hour later, deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office found a victim in White Center suffering from a graze gunshot wound to the head. Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Seattle police responded back to the original location to search for a crime scene, finding property damage to a nearby recreational vehicle (RV). Police determined that an argument occurred between multiple people before the shooting.

During this altercation, the suspect fired off a gun, striking both the RV and the victim. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived and they did not find him.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are accepted.

Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be assigned to this case.
