Update: Man Arrested in South Seattle Homicide Investigation

Seattle police arrested a 46-year-old man Monday in connection to a homicide that occurred May 7 in an encampment near Cheasty Boulevard South and South Winthrop Street. Officers found the 35-year-old man deceased inside a tent with a penetrating injury. 

During the investigation, Homicide Unit detectives developed probable cause to arrest the suspect. In a coordinated effort detectives, with assistance from SWAT and the Gun Violence Reduction Unit, took the suspect into custody on May 11. 

Police booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of Murder.

Detectives Investigating Death in South Seattle Encampment

Seattle police detectives are investigating the death of a man inside of a tent encampment in South Seattle this morning. 

Just before 9:00 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a body near Cheasty Boulevard South and South Winthrop Street. There, they found an unidentified man, apparently deceased.

Police cordoned off the area until investigators arrived to process the scene. The circumstances leading up to the man’s death are under investigation.

The King County Medical Examiner will take custody of the body. Their office will determine the cause and manner of death.
