Seattle police officers arrested a 15-year-old in South Seattle after he crashed a stolen car through a fence and ran from the scene.
On May 12 at about 7:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a collision into a yard in the 6900 block of 44th Avenue South. There, police found an unoccupied sedan with damaged ignition in the front yard of the victims’ home.
Police quickly found the suspect nearby and detained him.
The suspect denied being in the car, yet an eyewitness identified him as the driver and the teen’s cell phone was still paired to the vehicle’s Bluetooth settings.
Officers also believe the suspect committed a hit and run into another vehicle nearby, causing a collision, just minutes before crashing into the yard.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him into juvenile detention for property destruction and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Detectives in the General Investigations Unit are assigned to this case.
