Update: Homicide Detectives Investigate Deadly Drive-By Shooting

Seattle police detectives are investigating a delayed death homicide of a 19-year-old man that died on Saturday.

On May 8 at 11:40p.m., officers responded to a shooting near 32nd Avenue South and South Chicago Street. There, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Police and Seattle Fire Department provided aid, and medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.  

On May 16 the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Homicide Unit detectives will take over the investigation. This continues to be an open and active case.

Drive-By Shooting Leaves Teen in Critical Condition

Seattle police detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) are investigating a drive-by shooting last night in South Seattle that left a 19 year old in critical condition.

On May 8 at about 11:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of person shot near 32nd Avenue South and South Chicago Street. There, they found a victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. Police and firefighters provided medical aid to the victim. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Detectives determined that the shooting occurred near Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Henderson Street. The suspect(s) began shooting at the victim’s vehicle, striking it multiple times, and injuring the victim. The suspect(s) fled the area in a car before officers arrived. No arrests were made.

Officers cordoned off the intersection and found dozens of shell casings. Police impounded two involved vehicles to the processing room. GVRU detectives responded to process the scenes and interview witnesses.
