At 2313 hours, East Precinct officers were dispatched to Broadway / East Pike Street to investigate a threats call. Through the course of their investigation officers determined that the victims and the suspect were in a parking lot and were unknown to each other. The suspect stared down the victims and then reached into his vehicle and pulled out a hatchet and unsheathed the weapon in a manner that the victims could see. The suspect then placed the hatchet on his dashboard. The suspect then told the victims something along the lines of you’re the devil Latino and that he was also the devil and that he wanted to kill a Latino. The victims reported they felt targeted because of their race. Officers contacted and arrested the suspect. The suspect stated to officers they were in his parking spot and that they were “disgusting people”. The suspect was arrested and booked into KCJ for Felony Harassment and Hate Crime Offense. Officers impounded the suspect’s vehicle and are conducting a search warrant to retrieve the hatchet from the vehicle.

At 0932 hours, a person in crisis entered the City Hall and demanded to speak to the mayor. Initially, this subject refused to leave the building after security asked. However, the subject left the building and returned a few hours later. The subject was asked to leave but refused. Security called 911 to trespass the subject. The subject left the building when officers showed up at the scene. No threats or assault by the subject to any personnel at the City Hall.

At 1235 hours, officers responded to a religious location in the Belltown area of the West Precinct for a Hate Crime. The victim advised that the male subject, who is known and frequents the location, became upset when he was not allowed to set up a table in front of the property to sell items. The subject called the victim a Zionist and threatened to kill him. Officers were unable to locate the subject after an area check.
