Around 2:00 a.m, officers heard gunfire just north of the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South. This was immediately followed by a collision in front of a club nearby. The occupants of the vehicle reportedly unloaded unknown items from the vehicle, then got into another vehicle, a white Kia, before leaving southbound. The original vehicle had multiple bullet holes, but no indication that anyone inside the car was injured. The shooting scene was located in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue South, with bullet fragments located. Officers contacted a white Kia at 4th Avenue South & South Royal Brougham Way but it was determined that it wasn’t involved. Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be responsible for the follow-up investigation.

On 9/26/2026 at approximately 1444 hours, officers responded to a caller reporting they had negligently discharged/fired a single handgun round in their apartment, located in the 9200 block of 12 Ave NW. Officers arrived on-scene and were initially unable to contact the reporting party. The caller had reported being afraid of getting arrested and left the scene after calling 911. Officers contacted adjacent neighbors and found no injuries or evidence. A short time later the reporting party returned to the location and re-contacted police. Officers again responded and observed bullet holes in the RPs closet as well as 1 .45 Cal FCC. The RP consented to voluntarily surrender two handguns. No injuries, victims or additional damage to property were located.
