At 0001 hours, a suspect approached a patrol vehicle parked outside the precinct and proceeded to pour an unknown accelerant covering the patrol vehicle. The suspect then lit what appeared to be a piece of cloth on fire placing it on the hood in the attempt to catch the patrol vehicle on fire. While this was occurring an off-duty officer observed this and immediately notified on duty resources. Officers within the precinct ran outside and took the suspect into custody and extinguished the fire. While officers were placing the suspect into a holding cell at the West Precinct the suspect assaulted an officer. The suspect was booked into KCJ for attempted arson and assault 3.
